Douglas C. Saunders, Sr.

Douglas C. “Doug” Saunders, Sr., age 44, of Taneytown, died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, July 26, 2023. Born April 30, 1979, he was the beloved son of Robert “Bob” and Diana (Blank) Saunders.

Doug was a 1997 graduate of Francis Scott Key High School. He was self-employed as a concrete finisher for many years. He lived life to the fullest and loved hard, even strangers. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone. He was a true country music fan and anytime he was near George Jones was playing. He would help anyone and made friends wherever he went. Doug was the ultimate jokester. He was the light of every room and had a sense of humor that was contagious. He was loved so dearly by his family and friends.

Besides his parents he is survived by daughter, Cassandra Diane Miller and husband Benjamin Miller, daughter, Autumn Saunders and son, Douglas Christian “DC” Saunders, Jr. all of Keymar; brothers, Robert “Rob” Saunders, Jr. and wife Nichole Saunders of Manchester and John Saunders Sr. of Taneytown; sister, Brittany Saunders also of Taneytown; along with many nieces and nephews and a countless number of friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 4, 2023, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 136 East Baltimore Street, Taneytown, MD 21787. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023, 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Deacon Charles E. Barnhart, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow the service at Mt. Tabor cemetery, Rocky Ridge.  The family asks that friends attend in casual dress, Doug would want it that way.
