Dorothy "Dottie" Hess

Dorothy “Dottie” (Baker) Hess, age 86, of Taneytown, died on Monday, June 10, 2024 at home with her daughter and family at her side. Born September 20, 1937 she was the daughter of the late Charles and Catherine Baker nee Bitler. She was the beloved wife of David Hess Jr, until his passing in 2000.

Dottie was a fan of bingo, yard sales, music, carnivals and adored people watching. She especially loved her family and her grand-kids. She worked at Boornsteens Clothing, Country Kitchen, Thunderhead Bowling Alley, and retired from Carroll Hospital after 26 years. She was a lifetime member of Grace UCC and the Taneytown Ladies Auxiliary Club.

Surviving are her children; Stacey Few and husband John of Taneytown, and Brenda Green and husband Benny of Hanover. She is survived by her grandchildren; David James Few and wife Robyne, Travis John Few and wife Makailah, and Hunter Levi Few, all of Taneytown, as well as Chad David Green and wife Sarah of New Oxford, and Keith Osten Green and wife Amy of Bonneauville. Dottie is further survived by her great-grandchildren; Aliya Few, River Few, Logan Few, Layla Few, Bowen Few, Blaine Few, Tyler Green and wife Jaci, Ciera Green, Kylah Rae Green, Brooklyn Green, Addisyn Green, Maddox Green, Lawson Green. She is also survived by great-great-grandchild Emme Mae Green. She is also survived by her siblings Eddie Baker and wife Kathy, of Frizzleberg, and Wayne Baker and partner Donna Hartman, of Taneytown, as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to granddaughter-in-law Makailah, and long-time family friend Jessie McCauley for their extra care, help, and love given to Dottie in the last months.

Dorothy was predeceased by her parents Charles and Catherine Baker as well as her husband David Hess and brother Donald Baker.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 13, 2024, from 6-8pm at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home in Taneytown. The funeral will be held at Grace UCC at 11 am, Friday June 14, 2024 at 49 West Baltimore Street, Taneytown 21787 with burial to follow.
