Dorothy Elaine Wehrman, 81, of Union Bridge, MD, died peacefully on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at her home. Born February 2, 1940 in Hanover, PA, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary (Engles) Staup. She was the devoted wife of John Wehrman, to whom she was married for 43 years.
Dorothy worked in the alterations department at the English American Clothing Company in Westminster, MD for many years. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, crabbing, watching the Hallmark Channel and horror movies, and collecting stuffed cats, figurines of cats, and pictures of wolves. Dorothy was a fan of the Baltimore Ravens. She was a lover of animals and enjoyed her various pets over the years.
Surviving, in addition to her husband John, are her son, Carl Tawney (Tywana) of Emmitsburg; step-daughters, Tina Seabrease (Brian) of Lancaster, PA, and Shawn Bloyer (Gary) of Smithsburg, MD; step-son, Scott Stormer (Milissa); brother, Bill Staup of Littlestown, PA; grandchildren, Melissa (Anthony), Danielle Hyde Hanfman, Jackson, and Skylar; step-granddaughter, Alayna; great-grandchildren, Mason and Allie; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Betty Baker.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster, MD with funeral celebrant John Morrill officiating. Burial will follow in Krider’s Lutheran Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 28th, 6-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dorothy’s name may be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals at aspca.org.
