Dorothy Augusta Stewart, 95, of the Carroll Vista community in Taneytown died Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at her home. Born January 6, 1917 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Rose Varnhorn Crafton. She was the wife of Olen C. Stewart, to whom she was married for 68 years.
Dorothy was a graduate of Seton High School and a communicant of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Taneytown. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic community in Eldersburg. She worked in the Claims and Personnel Departments of the Montgomery Ward Department Store in Baltimore for many years.
Surviving in addition to her husband are daughter, Carol Deibel of Taneytown; grandson, Ronald Franklin of California; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by sister, Margaret Fowler, and brothers, Charles, Henry and John Crafton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, December 7, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 44 Frederick St, Taneytown, MD with Monsignor Martin E. Feild as celebrant. Interment will be Monday at Loudon Park Cemetery in Baltimore. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD.
