Dorothy Agnes Sell, age 91, of Westminster, MD, died on Friday, July 9, 2010 at her home.
Born September 21, 1918 in New Oxford, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Alphonsine (Hufnagle) Hockensmith. She was predeceased by her husband Edgar S. Sell, Sr. in 2006.
Dorothy was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Westminster. She was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family.
Surviving are children, James A. Smith, Jr. of Hanover, PA, Edgar S. Sell, Jr. of Westminster, and Richard L. Sell of Westminster; step-daughter, Polly Silate of Essex; grandchildren, James Smith, III, Serenia Barnes, Chris Sell, Mellissa Lease, Bobby Wantz, and Barbie Wantz; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son Burnell J. Smith; and by sisters, Marie Little, Helen Becker, Lillian Topper, and Pauline Miller; and by brothers, Alan, Charles, Bernard, Lawrence, Joseph and Robert Hockensmith.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe Street, Westminster, with Rev. Ray Martin as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Silver Run. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster.
