Dorothy N. Orem, age 89 of Taneytown, died Thursday, November 18, 2010 in Taneytown. She was born February 8, 1921 in Baltimore, the daughter of the late John Edward and Edna North Hands. She was the wife of the late Louis T. Orem, who died in June 1990. She was raised Methodist and attended Krider’s United Church of Christ in Westminster. She loved her family, watching game shows and the food network. She particularly liked yellow roses. Dorothy enjoyed racing, was a football fan and loved Maryland steamed crabs.
She is survived by her children, Helen E. Forquer of Taneytown and Louis E. Orem and wife Joan of Westminster; grandchildren, Eddie Forquer, Jr. (U.S.A.F.) Lisa Keefer, Louie Orem and Richard Crunkilton; great grandchildren, Danielle, Rachael, Jackie, Thomas, Jeremiah Forquer, Amanda Wagner and Hailey Keefer; also many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Betty Lou Martin and siblings, Carolyn Warner, Elizabeth Lewis, Sarah Moore, Kenneth, Edward and James Hands.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday 11:00 A.M. at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis Street, Westminster with Rev. Jennifer Walters officiating. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Marriottsville, MD.
The family will receive friends Monday 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the funeral home.
