Dorothy L. Lockner, age 86, formerly of Taneytown, Maryland, died peacefully on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at Long View Nursing Home in Manchester, Maryland.
Born September 1, 1925 in Rocky Ridge, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late William and Edna (Miller) Shriner. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles F. Lockner.
Dorothy worked at the Cambridge Rubber Factory in Taneytown for over 40 years, and with the ARC of Carroll County prior to retirement. She was a devoted and faithful member of Grace United Church of Christ in Taneytown, American Legion Hesson Snider Post 120 auxiliary, and the Taneytown Vol. Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed baking, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
Surviving are many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by siblings, Anna Lee Glass, Howard “Bud” Shriner, and Carl Shriner; and by a nephew, Dennis Glass.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, on Sunday, September 2, 2012, at the Grace United Church of Christ in Taneytown, with Rev. Steven Ostendorf-Snell officiating. Interment will follow in Grace U.C.C. Cemetery in Taneytown. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown and on Sunday from 1 PM until the time of service at the church.
