Dorothy Marie Flickinger, age 92, of Taneytown, Maryland, died on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at Carroll Hospice’s Dove House in Westminster, Maryland.
Born August 30, 1918 near Frizzellburg, MD, she was the daughter of the late William and Rosie (Goodwin) Dickensheets. She was the wife of the late Lloyd R. Flickinger.
She was a member of Taneytown Baptist Church and worked 32 years at the shoe factories in Westminster. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are son Marvin Flickinger and wife Betty of Taneytown; sister Mildred Lambert and husband Kenneth, formerly of Taneytown; daughter-in-law Frances Bosley of Union Bridge; brother-in-law Edward Flickinger and wife Millie of Silver Spring; grandchildren Kim Kearney & husband Bill of Pelham, NH, Kristin Tracey & husband Pete of Taneytown and Cheryl Brown of Gettysburg; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Lloyd W. Flickinger and sister, Catherine Putman.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 15 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 East Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD with Pastor Gary F. Buchman officiating. Interment will be in Meadow Branch Cemetery in Westminster. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
