Dorothy (Meisz) Cooper

June 26, 1928 — April 12, 2015

Dorothy Kathleen Cooper, 86, of Westminster, Maryland died peacefully on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster surrounded by her loving family.  Born June 26, 1928 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Cecilia Kram Meisz.  She was married to the late Robert W. Grayson who died in 1957, and then to the late Leroy F. Cooper, who died in 2001.

Dorothy was a wife, mother, and homemaker throughout most of her life.  She was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Westminster.  She enjoyed fishing and crabbing at Ocean City, playing cards, and was known for her love of birds.  She was formerly a member of American Legion Talbot Post 70 in Easton, MD.  Dorothy enjoyed spending time with family.  She was a very loving, caring, and giving person.

She is survived by daughters, Karen Jeffries and husband Henry of Taneytown, MD, and Judy Krauss and companion Mike Davis of Westminster, MD; son, Timothy Cooper and wife Joan of Berlin, MD; sister, Miriam Donohue of Anchorage, AK; grandchildren, Amy Bortz and husband Steve of Oakland, MD, Katie Peters and husband Travis of York, PA, Ted Cooper and wife Kim of Parkville, MD, James Cooper and wife Ashley of Essex, MD, and Becca Cooper of Berlin, MD; great-grandchildren, Colton, Chase, Taryn, Fred, Grady, Jake, and Eleanor; niece, Erin Donohue-Boyer; and nephews, Brian and Mark Donohue.  She was predeceased by son, Robert Michael Grayson in 1994.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 24, 2015 at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster, MD with the Rev. John Lesnick as celebrant.  Inurnment will follow at Parkwood Cemetery in Baltimore.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN, 38101, or to Radio Mass of Baltimore, 740 N. Calvert St, Baltimore, MD, 21202.
