Dorothy L. Alexander

Dorothy Louise Alexander Age 92, of Taneytown, MD, passed on November 8, 2023. Born on March 5, 1931, Dorothy was blessed to have many roles in life: Daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, Mom-Mom and Great Mom-Mom. She was the daughter of the late Grace Goldie Trite and Clarence R Sipes of Union Bridge, MD. Dorothy was one of nine children, they were a very close family sharing Sunday meals and holidays together with many grandchildren.

Dorothy (Dot, Mom-Mom or Todgie) was a 1947 graduate of Elmer Wolfe high school in Union Bridge Maryland. She enjoyed attending their alumni banquet each year.

Dorothy married John L. Alexander on February 18, 1950; they were married for 59 years. They settled in Taneytown Maryland.

Dorothy loved sewing, if someone in the family needed something altered or mended, she could fix it up like new! She was also the family hairdresser for her sisters. If something was broken or tied in a knot, she could fix it or untie it! Dorothy and Johnny, we always together and visiting her family or going out to dinner, banquets, vacations, and cruises. Even at 92 she enjoyed going out to dinner every Sunday and ending the evening dinner with ice cream. She  a member of Linwood Brethren Church and attended Trinity Lutheran Church.

Dorothy is survived by her sons; Jack L. Alexander and his wife Joan of Berlin, Maryland, John L. Alexander Jr., and his wife Marylee of Littlestown, Pennsylvania; granddaughter, Lauren L. and husband Matthew Pennington of Berlin, Maryland; grandsons, Brandon M. Alexander and his wife Elizabeth, Daniel L. Alexander and his wife Renee, both families residing in Littlestown, Pennsylvania; great grandchildren; Collin, Emily, Madelynne and Asher Pennington, Evelyn Alexander and Cynthia Alexander (due in December);sisters, Shirley Garber and  Graceanne Green; brothers, Richard Sipes and John Sipes.

Dorothy predeceased her husband, John L. Alexander, in 2009; she is also predeceased by a brother and three sisters.

A Funeral service will be held at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, Taneytown Maryland on November 15th at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 14th at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.

Burial will follow the service at Keysville Union Cemetery, Keysville, MD.
