Doris Mae Young, age 79, of Taneytown, MD, died Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster. Born April 18, 1932 in Taneytown, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur & Inez Angell Fair.
Doris worked for many years in the housekeeping department at Carroll Hospital Center. Earlier in life, she was employed by Cambridge Rubber Company in Taneytown. She enjoyed baking, working jigsaw puzzles, watching sports on television and spending time with family & friends.
Surviving are children, Mike Young and wife, Gloria, of Taneytown, Debbie Owings and husband, Carl, of New Windsor, Jody Bruce and husband, Grafton, of Hanover, PA, and Tony Young & long-time companion, Kellie Lanphear, of Taneytown; sisters, Wanda Lawrence, Margaret Wetzel & Wilma Liller, all of Taneytown, and Janet Smith of Littlestown, PA; brothers, Wilbur Fair, Jr. of Fairfield, PA & Wayne Fair of New Smyrna Beach, FL.; grandchildren, Nicole Cromwell, Jesse Owings & wife, Kitty, Randy Owings & wife, Holly, Candice James & husband, Chris, Trish Jones & husband, Greg, and Tina Lawrence & husband, Mike; great-grandchildren, Kayla Arnold, Megan, Blake, Amber, & Chance Schrell, Ryan, Shawn & Jesse Dillon, Olivia & Brooke Owings, Riley & Abby James, Emma & Trent Jones, and Matt & Timmy Lawrence; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, June, Cecilia & Lois and by brother, Harold.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, January 16 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD with Deacon Charles E Barnhart, Jr. officiating. Inurnment will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Monday.
