Doris Pearline Ott, 79, of Emmitsburg, MD died peacefully on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Ministries in Emmitsburg, surrounded by her loving family. Born November 30, 1938 in Thurmont, MD, she was the daughter of the late Guy and Sarah (Grable) Ridenour. She was the wife of the late John B. Ott, Jr., to whom she was married for 53 years.
Doris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was employed as a housekeeper and custodian over the years at Mother Seton School, St. Joseph College and St. Joseph Provincial House. She was a member of St. Anthony Shrine Parish and the Women’s Auxiliary of Emmitsburg VFW Memorial Post 6658. She enjoyed porch-sitting, holding her grandbabies and singing to them, playing cards, shopping, cooking and family get-togethers.
Surviving are daughter, Phyllis Cool and husband Richard of Emmitsburg; sons, Michael Ott and companion Peggy Randall of Gettysburg, PA, Joseph Ott and wife Cathy and Dennis Ott, all of Emmitsburg; sister, Mae Fogle and husband Leroy and brother Guy Ridenour, Jr. and wife Glenda, all of Emmitsburg; grandchildren, Richard and Shannon Cool, John, Shawn, Chris, David, D.J., Sarah and William Ott, and Rebecca Ott Coyle; great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Morgan, Alexis, Faith and Blake Cool, Shawn Jr., Isis, Madison and Owen Ott, and Chloe and Harper Coyle; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 10 siblings, Helen, Clarence, William, Frank, James, Mary, Nancy, Olia, Charles and Florence.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony Shrine Parish, 16150 St. Anthony Rd., Emmitsburg, MD with the Rev. Collin Poston as celebrant. Burial will follow at New St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21st at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 210 W. Main St., Emmitsburg, MD.
