Doris Cecelia Glass

Doris Cecelia Glass, a cherished mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, peacefully passed away on October 17, 2023, at Gettysburg Hospital. She was born on January 24, 1935, to the late John Bernard and Nellie Genevieve (Topper) Wetzel, and her memory will forever be held dear in the hearts of those who loved her. Doris was the devoted wife of the late Jimmy A. Glass until his passing on November 8, 2020, they were married 61 years at the time of his death. She was the beloved mother of Brenda C. Myers and her husband Steven, and John A. Glass and his wife Tammy. She was a guiding light and a source of unwavering love and support for her children throughout their lives.
She was a dear sister to Louise Shriner and the late John B. Wetzel, Rita Cool, Margaret Miller, Patricia Miller, Mary Cool, and Regina Dillman. Doris's siblings held a special place in her heart, and she shared a bond of love and memories with each of them. Doris was a loving grandmother to Christopher Wagerman, Courtney Abrecht, Ashley Glass, and Jonathon Glass. She found great joy in their presence and took immense pride in their accomplishments. She was also a cherished great-grandmother to Colby Wagerman, Lilian Wolf, Brody Wagerman, Jake Wagerman, and Calvin Abrecht. Doris delighted in their laughter and treasured every moment spent with them. Doris is also survived by many nieces and nephews and a special Niece Connie Ohler.
The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at Tom's Creek United Methodist Church, located at 16252 Toms Creek Church Road, Emmitsburg, MD 21727, starting at 10:00 AM. A funeral service to honor Doris's life will immediately follow at 11:00 AM at the church. Interment will take place at the Toms Creek Community Cemetery.
