Doris Virginia Combs, age 85 of Frederick, MD, formerly of Alexandria, VA died Wednesday March 9, 2011 at Homewood at Crumland Farms in Frederick, MD.
She was born August 28, 1925 in Baltimore, the daughter of the late Walter B. and Ruth A. (Patterson) Peppler. She was the wife of George F. Combs, her husband of 60 years.
She was a homemaker most of her life and was active in many civic and community activities while living in Alexandria, VA until moving in 2002 to Homewood.
Surviving in addition to her husband are children, Virginia Bruce Combs of Lutherville, MD and George F. ”Jeff” Combs, Jr. and wife Mary Louise of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Jeffrey M. Combs and Gary B. Combs; great grandson, Sam Combs; brother, Albert Patterson “Pat” Peppler of Florida.
She was predeceased by a sister, Bruce Adele Evans.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday March 12, 2011 at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 210 W. Main Street, Emmitsburg, MD with Rev. John B. Rudolph officiating. Inurnment will be private in the Emmitsburg Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
