Doris Marie Blickenstaff, 88, of Taneytown, Maryland, died peacefully on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the York Hospital in York, PA.
Born on November 30, 1929 in Baltimore, MD she was the daughter of the late John F. and Irma C. (Kunzelmann) Neumeister. She was the wife of the late Joseph W. Blickenstaff, Sr.
Doris was retired as a bookkeeper from Fountain Valley Lab in Westminster. She was a member of St. Mary’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Silver Run. She was a Gold Star mother with the 11th Armored Cavalry Blackhorse Regiment Air Cav. This group was very special to her. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, who even now are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing love and faith. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling laughter and joking around, will never be forgotten. She was dearly loved by many as Mom, Aunt Doris, Mrs. B, Grandma, and Great-grandma and will forever remain in their hearts.
Surviving her are children, Frederick W. Blickenstaff of Westminster, L. Bernard Blickenstaff and wife Melissa of Annapolis, Franklin T. Blickenstaff and wife Audrey of Blacks Corner, Donna J. Adams and husband Bill of Hanover, PA, and Linda A. Blickenstaff and companion Edward Wenderoth of Littlestown, PA; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Anna Mae Fyle of Overlea, Margaret Harsl and Betty Rose Jones both of White Marsh; brother, John B. Neumeister of Essex; the Koch family of Baltimore; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Joseph W. Blickenstaff, Jr.; and by a brother, John Frederick Neumeister.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at St. Mary’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3978 Littlestown Pike, Silver Run with Rev. H. Lee Brumback, II officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s UCC Cemetery in Silver Run. The family will receive friends on Wednesday March 14th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
