Donald E. Frebertshauser passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021 after a period of failing health. Born April 9, 1943 in Westminster, he was the son of the late John and Madeline (Brehm) Frebertshauser. He was the husband of Rose (Hahn) Frebertshauser, to whom he was married for 58 years.
Donald graduated from Westminster High School, class of 1961, while working at the Acme Grocery Store. After graduating, he went to work at Black & Decker Manufacturing in Hampstead, and continued there until they moved the machine department to Fayetteville. He traveled there to assist setting up the machines and teaching new employees. He returned to retail work at Super Thrift in Hampstead. He continued working there for many years as the store changed names from Super Thrift to Festival Foods to today’s name, Weis Market. Donald also worked part time on a local farm. He was a hard worker who gave 100%.
Donald loved flea markets, collecting pig items and looking for unique items to add to his collection, or the collections of his wife and children. He was always in the background supporting his children as they grew in the county and state 4-H programs. He loved his family, especially his granddaughter, and will be missed by all who passed his way.
Surviving, in addition to his wife Rose, are son, Drew Frebertshauser; granddaughter, Dakota Frebertshauser; sisters-in-law, Jill Frebertshauser and Alice Eckard; brother-in-law, Paul Hahn, Jr.; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by an infant son, Donald Jr.; daughter, Denise; and brother, David.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, 827 Leisters Church Rd, Westminster, MD, with Pastor Sam Chamelin officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial contributions in Donald’s name to Carroll County Hoff Barn Education Fund, Carroll County Farm Museum, 300 Center St., Westminster, MD 21157. Arrangements have been entrusted to Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home in Westminster.
