Dixie Lee Meyer, age 73, of Westminster, Maryland, died following an extended illness on Sunday morning, March 22, 2009 at the Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster.
Born September 5, 1935 in Smallwood, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late J. H. “Peck” and M. Vivian (Greenholtz) Dull. She was the loving wife of 55 years to Benjamin S. Meyer.
Dixie was a devoted member of the Westminster Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She loved to paint and draw various landscapes and country scenes using oil paints on a variety of media, including slate, milkcans, old saw blades, and canvas. She loved flowers, feeding birds, listening to peep frogs in the Springtime, and country music. She was happiest spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are children, Dr. Steven Timothy Meyer, Ph.D., of Etowah, Tenn., Philip Monroe Meyer and wife Toni Lynn of Ooltawah, Tenn., Michael H. Meyer of Westminster, and Lisa Vivian Beaver and husband Scott of Littlestown, PA; grandchildren, J.T. Hyde, IV, Jesse Hyde, Joshua, Andrew, Haylee, Philip II, Hannah, William, Michael, Timothy, Jessica, Nicole, and Cal Meyer, Brittany Lynn Beaver; great-grandchildren, Calab and Cody Meyer; siblings, Dorothy Dayhoff of Uniontown, Charles Dull of Littlestown, Bernie Dull of Westminster, and Cliff Dull of Westminster; also several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Deborah Meyer Hyde in 1987.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster, with Pastor F. Stephen Wall officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the funeral home.
