Debra Louise Smeal, 56, of Taneytown, formerly of Clearfield, PA, died peacefully Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at her home. Born February 9, 1956 in Clearfield, she was the daughter of late Patrick and Betty Moyer Flanagan. She was the wife of George Smeal, her husband of nearly 40 years.
Debra was a payroll specialist for Baltimore Aircoil Company, where she was employed for 15 years. She was a member of Grace United Church of Christ in Taneytown. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, baking, reading, and spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to her husband are daughter, Bethany Harrison and husband, Matthew, of Taneytown, 2 sons, Matthew Smeal of Owings Mills, and Stephen Smeal of Baltimore; 2 sisters, Susann Irwin and husband, Charles, of Waterford, PA, and Mary Beth Lanich of Olanta, PA; 4 brothers, Pat Flanagan and wife, Doris, of Clearfield, PA, Dennis “Bernie” Flanagan and wife, Pam, of Clearfield, PA, Jim Flanagan of Philipsburg, PA, and Mark Flanagan of Lancaster, PA; 4 grandchildren, Benjamin and Patrick Cassup, and Erica and William Harrison, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Grace United Church of Christ, 49 W. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD with the Rev. Steven Ostendorf-Snell officiating. Inurnment will be private. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the time of the service.
