Dean Martin Gillespie, age 57 of Emmitsburg died Friday March 16, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Gettysburg. He was born January 3, 1955 in Gettysburg, son of Billy M. Gillespie of Fairfield, PA, and the late Agnes I. (Haley) Gillespie. He was a graduate of Catoctin High School. Dean was a mechanic at the National Institutes of Health.
Dean was an avid NASCAR fan and loved fishing, hunting and dogs. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Littlestown, Blue Ridge Sportsman’s Club, Amvets of Thurmont, and the American Legion in Thurmont. He served as treasurer of the B.P.O.E. Elks in Deale, MD.
In addition to his father he is survived by his step-mother, Marlene J. Gillespie of Fairfield; brother and sister-in-law, Alan V. and Sherry Gillespie of Gettysburg, sister, Yvonne L. Gillespie of Lawrence, KS, sister and brother-in-law, Cynthia M. and Bruce Marshall of Fairfield and half-sister, Sharon M. Gillespie of Fairfield; also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 23, 2012 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 210 West Main Street, Emmitsburg with Pastor Jon Greenstone officiating. Interment will be private.
The family will receive friends on Friday 10:00 am until the time of the service at the funeral home.
