David Myers

February 12, 1926 — September 15, 2017

David Upton Myers, 91, of Ellicott City, MD, died peacefully on Friday, September 15, 2017 at the Lutheran Village at Miller’s Grant in Ellicott City.  Born February 12, 1926 in Westminster, MD, he was the son of the late David E. and Martha V. (Lemmon) Myers.  He is survived by his wife and soulmate of 69 years, Mary Ellen (Lohr) Myers.

David was a graduate of Westminster High School, class of 1942. He was a World War II Navy veteran who served at the Bethesda Naval Hospital working in the medical records office and traveling with Navy doctors. While there he met President Roosevelt.  He attended Strayer Business College.  He worked for International Harvester, now Navistar, for 35 years.  He was Administrative Office Manager at the Baltimore Parts Distribution Center and also worked in the Atlanta, GA, Kansas City, KS, and Memphis, TN, offices.  He was a deacon in his church and helped his wife care for his mother and her aunt for many years.

Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters, Sue Ellen Polise and husband Louis of Glenelg, MD and Sally Ann Smith of Ellicott City, MD; grandchildren, Maria Elizabeth Polise and Anthony David Polise; sister, Doris Steinburg of Hanover, PA; and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by sister, Barbara Ann Montoya and brother, Melvin Myers.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 91 Willis St., Westminster with Pastor Rick Powell officiating.  Burial will be private.  The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
