David A. Makoutz

David A. Makoutz, 91, of Taneytown, MD, died October 24, 2024 at BridgingLife in Westminster. Born January 27, 1933, in Evanston, IL, he was the son of the late Lorenz V. Makoutz and Anna R. Kenney. David was the husband of the late Mary Ann I. Makoutz.

David was a veteran of the United States Navy, and worked for NASA as a data systems technician. After retiring from NASA, he worked at Walnut Springs Nursery for several years. Gardening was a great passion, and he also enjoyed cooking, baking, traveling, and woodworking. He enjoyed staying active in the Carroll Vista community.

Surviving are children, George and Michaelene Makoutz, Layah and David Law, David A. Makoutz Jr., and John Joseph, and Kirk Holub; 13 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. David was predeceased by his wife Mary Ann Makoutz; siblings, Kenny Makoutz, and Joan Cornelius; and grandson, Brian Law.

A Funeral Service honoring David will be held Friday, November 1, 2024 at NOON, at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, P.A., 136 E Baltimore Street, Taneytown, MD 21787. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery will be private, at a later date.
