David Charles Haschert, 72, of Littlestown, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday evening, October 19, 2021 with his family by his side. Born February 1, 1949 in Baltimore, he was the son of C. Walter Haschert of Westminster and the late Frieda Overman Haschert. He was the husband of Dorothy J. (Martin) Haschert for 50 years.
Dave was one of the first Certified Cardiac Rescue Technicians in Carroll County and was a life member of the Westminster Volunteer Fire Department, having served multiple offices within the department. He was once voted Fireman of the Year and received a commendation from the Maryland State Police for rescue efforts in 1977. Dave was a founding member of Shepard Staff, served on numerous Emmaus, Chrysalis, and 7MWWJ teams and was an active member of Grace Fellowship Chapel, serving as Elder and Trustee.
During his 40+ year career with Bechtel, Dave traveled the country extensively working in engineering on nuclear power, fiber and telecommunication sites. He also spent time working as a financial advisor for Primerica and as an independent tax preparer.
Dave's greatest joys in life were God, his family, dancing with any woman who wanted to, model trains, towing water skiers behind the boat, and M&M's.
In addition to his wife, Dottie, Dave is survived by his children and spouses, Martina & Gary Lane, Nikki Haschert & Scott Swartz, and Chuck & Kati Haschert: 7 grandchildren and their spouses; 8 great-grandchildren; siblings, Joyce (Tom) Blank, Robert (Edie) Haschert and Donald (Mary Anne) Haschert: Sister-in-law, Susan (John) Rinehart and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 26th at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 91 Willis Street, Westminster with Pastor Ralf Nies officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Finksburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, October 25th from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
