David Roland Dyson, Sr.

David Roland Dyson, Sr, age 81 of Westminster, passed on August 10, 2023 at Westminster Healthcare Center, after a long battle with vascular dementia. Born May 25, 1942, he was the son of the late John and Ethel (Corun) Dyson. He was the beloved husband of Barbara (Bandorick) Dyson.

David was the cherished father of David Roland Dyson II and wife Karen, loving grandfather of Jennifer Barlow and husband Bill, Amy Johnson and husband Neal and Amanda Dyson; 2 great granddaughters, 2 great grandsons; 2 great-great grandsons and another great-great grandson due in September; sisters Mildred Sweitzer and Mary Redmond; brothers William, Mark and Charles Dyson; loving nieces Katie Kataros and Joan Sears; cousin Wayne Smith. He was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara Shifflett and a son Thomas Shifflett; 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

David was employed at Maryland Cup for 20 years and retired from Carroll County Roads in 2005 after 13 years, where he was Employee of the year in 2000. He was a member of St. John Roman Catholic Church. He was a hard worker and always helping others. Family meant everything to him who he shared his love with. The family would like to send heartfelt thanks for his loving care at Westminster Healthcare Center, Mary Jane Overly of Bureau of Aging, Habitat for Humanity and wonderful neighbors Tom Beach and Laura.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 17, 2023 from 1-3 and 5-7 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, P.A., 91 Willis Street, Westminster, MD 21157. Chaplet of Divine Mercy will be at 2:30 and a Rosary service at 6:30. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, August 18, 2023 at St. John Roman Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St, Westminster, MD 21157 with Fr. Mark Bialek officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, 2800 Old Westminster Pike, Finksburg, MD 21048.
