Darlene Elaine Schwinger, 59, of Taneytown died Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at York Hospital Center in York, PA. Born September 20, 1952 in Gettysburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late James and Dorothy Wilson Glacken. She was the wife of Charles “Ron” Schwinger, her husband of 27 years.
Darlene was a seamstress and had been sewing for 44 years. She was employed by English American Tailoring in Westminster for 14 years. She attended Keysville Evangelical Lutheran Church in Keysville and was a member of Hesson-Snyder American Legion Post 120 Ladies Auxiliary and the Harney VFW Ladies Auxiliary, as well. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, dancing, collecting roosters and green M&Ms, and spending time with family and friends. She was an avid Washington Redskins fan.
Surviving in addition to her husband are sister, Sharon Summers and husband, Robert, of Taneytown; nephew, Bobby Summers of Taneytown; great-niece, Hayley Summers; and great-nephew, Zachary Summers.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD with Deacon Charles E. Barnhart, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Keysville Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
