Daniel Edward Sullivan, Jr., 82, of Waynesboro, PA, died peacefully Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD. Born April 18, 1933 in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Daniel and Margaret (Alexander) Sullivan, Sr. He was the husband of Mary Elizabeth (Stinebaugh) Sullivan.
Daniel was employed as the corporate director of purchasing for Mack Trucks Corporate world headquarters in Allentown, PA. He was a supporter of Catholic education and St. Maria Goretti Athletics, former member of the parish council at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Emmitsburg, and an avid golfer. Daniel was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during the Korean war. For many years, he coached junior league basketball in Hagerstown, and enjoyed spending holidays with his family.
Surviving are son, Daniel Sullivan III and wife, Tracey of Williamsport, MD, daughters, Sue Petr and husband, Stan of Finksburg, Patricia Swope and husband, Jay of Thurmont, and Beth Weber and husband, Tom of Clear Spring; 8 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister, Lovalene Lucille Hankey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 47 DePaul St., Emmitsburg, MD, 21727, with the Rev. Charles F. Krieg, C.M. as celebrant. Interment will follow at New St. Joseph Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church at the above address. Arrangements have been entrusted to MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME in Emmitsburg.
