Daisy Pearl Reifsnider, age 97, of Keymar, Maryland, died on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Lorien Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taneytown.
Born September 1, 1914 in Woodbine, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late John Maurice and Daisy (Grimm) Hess. She was predeceased by her husband, David Leonard Reifsnider on March 24, 1982.
Daisy graduated from Mt. Airy High School Class of 1931. She was a member of Grace United Church of Christ in Taneytown where she attended the helping hands Sunday School Class and sang in the church choir. She always enjoyed working with children and the youth of the church and coordinating music for the bible school. She was an organist at Keysville Lutheran Church for over 25 years, and accompanist to the boy’s quartet and women’s trio at the church and to the Taneytown High School choir. She was a member of the Ki-Wives of the Taneytown Kiwanis Club and loved sewing and hand crafts. For most of her life she was a devoted homemaker and farmer’s wife.
Surviving are sons, David M. Reifsnider and wife Vesta of Keymar, Dr. Kenneth L. Reifsnider and wife Martha of Columbia, S.C.; grandsons, D. Michael, Jon M., Dr. Eric S., and Dr. Jason M. Reifsnider; step-granddaughter, Monica Cormier; 6 great-grandchildren; and 1 niece.
She was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Loretta Lieb Reifsnider; and sisters, Ella Mae Slagle and Ruth Rebecca Clark.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, on Tuesday, November 23, 2011 at the Grace United Church of Christ in Taneytown with her pastor the Rev. Steven Ostendorf-Snell and Rev. James M. Russell officiating. Interment will follow in the Grace U.C.C. Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11:00 AM until the time of service at the church.
