Cynthia Catherine (Siegman) Schlude

January 8, 1945 — August 7, 2013

Cynthia Catherine Schlude, age 68, of Westminster, Maryland, died of complications resulting from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at the Carroll Hospice Dove House.
Born January 8, 1945 in Baltimore, Maryland she was the daughter of the late John D. and Catherine Little Siegman of Westminster, Maryland.  She is survived by her husband of 42   years, Larry Schlude.
Mrs. Schlude graduated from Westminster High School in 1963.  She continued her studies at the University of Maryland graduating with a BS degree in Secretarial Education and a Master’s degree in Secondary Education.  She taught in Prince’s George’s County for 31 years.  Upon returning to Carroll County, Mrs. Schlude worked part-time at Dutterers Flower Shop.  Mrs. Schlude enjoyed reading, especially books about the Civil War, taking day trips to places of historical interest, but most of all, spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren, Callie and Connor.
Surviving in addition to her husband are son, Patrick J. Schlude and daughter-in-law, Elizabeth of Arnold, MD; and grandchildren, Connor and Callie Schlude.  Also surviving are sister-in-law, Molly and brother-in-law, Jerry Schlude of Ashley, PA and sister-in-law Charlene and brother-in-law, Bobby Schlude of Niskayuna, NY as well as numerous cousins, aunts and uncles and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster with Rev. Kristin Dubsky officiating.  Interment will follow in St. John’s (Leisters) Lutheran Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.  A reception will follow the graveside service in the fellowship hall of St. John (Leisters) Lutheran Church.
