Clyde Clayton Mellema

Clyde Clayton Mellema, age 71, of Union Bridge, Maryland, died on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Lorien Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taneytown.
Born December 2, 1940 in Sykesville, MD, he was the son of the late Clyde T. and Francis A. (Volk) Mellema. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Ruth V. (Guyer) Mellema.
Clayton worked for the Westminster Shoe Factory, Farmers Fertilizer and Feed, and retired after 33 years as a heavy machine operator with the Maryland State Highway Administration. He loved his pet dogs, and enjoyed camping, woodworking, gardening, and attending country music shows.
Surviving in addition to his wife are sister, Nancy Click of Union Bridge; godson, Kevin Boone; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by siblings, George and Robert Mellema, and Ruth McElroy.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster with Rev. Richard L. Michael officiating. Entombment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
