Clarence Edward Simms, Jr., 70, of Westminster passed away peacefully, Sunday, February 2, 2025 at the Carroll Hospital Center. Born November 29, 1954 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Clarence Edward Simms, Sr., and Mary Alberta Simms, nee Fisher. Beloved husband of Linda Ann Murray Simms, his wife of 38 years, devoted brother of Mary Anna Wilhelm and her husband Raymond, Doris Schaule and her husband Brian, Anna Langrehr and her husband Robert, Joyce Fairfield and her husband Kirk, Janet Caughlin and her husband Michael; cherished brother-in-law of Sharon Simms and also survived by 21 nieces and nephews. Mr. Simms was predeceased by his parents and his brother Leroy Simms.
Mr. Simms was a John Deere dealer in Towson after leaving the dealership he came to Westminster to run Arch Murray’s Western Parts with his wife where he sold furniture, lawnmower parts, and did service work, helping many people over the years. Clarence and his wife Linda made many flights in their plane to factory showrooms in North Carolina and Ohio to buy furniture for their store.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday February 10, 2025 from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday February 11, 2025 at 11 a.m. to Noon at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 91 Willis Street, Westminster (21157) where the funeral service will begin at Noon with the Rev. David L. Meador officiating. Interment will follow in Benjamin’s Krider’s United Church of Christ Cemetery, 208 Krider’s Church Road, Westminster (21158).
