Clarence Edwin Eyler, Sr., age 89, of Scottsboro, Alabama, died on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at the Highlands Medical Center in Scottsboro, AL.
Born May 14, 1922 in Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late John William and Margaret (McCleaf) Eyler. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lucy Virginia Eyler.
He was a life long dairy farmer and of the Catholic faith.
Surviving in addition to his wife are sons, John Edward Eyler of Seattle, WA, Clarence Edwin “Jim” Eyler, Jr. of Scottsboro, AL, Michael Eugene Eyler of Williamsburg, VA, Joseph Andrew Eyler of Gettysburg, PA; daughter, Cecelia M.L. Brawner of Gettysburg, PA; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are special friends, Robert and Carolyn Bullard, Ralph Halloway, Robin Fletcher, and Gloria Wolf; and many more cherished friends in Alabama and Pennsylvania.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, on Monday, January 16, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 47 DePaul St., Emmitsburg. Interment will follow in the New St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Emmitsburg. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 210 W. Main St., Emmitsburg with a wake service to follow at 8 PM.
