Clarence Leslie Eckard, Sr., 79, life-long resident of Westminster, Maryland, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at home.
Born February 11, 1939 in Westminster, MD, he was the son of the late Norman O. and Freda (Selders) Eckard. He was the husband of Dorothy “Dottie” R. Diehl.
Mr. Eckard was a tire service technician and manager with Yingling General Tire in Westminster for 46 years. He enjoyed spending time with and cooking for his family and friends. He also loved taking care of his pet cats, traveling, watching T.V., and crabbing.
Surviving in addition to his wife are children, Charles Eckard and wife Jeanette of Waynesboro, PA, Dwayne Eckard of Manchester, Clarence “Skeeter” Eckard, Jr. and companion, Jen Eckard of New Windsor, Lisa Eckard and husband Bruce of Westminster, and Lura Eckard and husband Chuck of Taneytown; step-sons, Randy Diehl of Hanover, PA, and Bradley Diehl and companion Kristen Bradey of Westminster; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, Gary Eckard; brothers, Charles, Ralph, William and Leon Eckard; sisters, Alice Gill, Mary Shamer, Patty Stonesifer, Carole Lescalleet, Dolly Null, and Betty Flickinger.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 91 Willis Street, Westminster. Interment will be private the next day in St. James Cemetery near Marston.
