Charles "Reds" Frounfelter

Charles Eugene “Reds” Frounfelter, 88, of New Windsor, MD, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Copper Ridge Senior Care Center in Sykesville.  Born November 29, 1932 in Union Bridge, MD, he was the son of the late Charles Merl and Mary Thelma (Lambert) Frounfelter.  He was the devoted husband of Dolores Irene (Garber) Frounfelter, to whom he was married for 65 years.

Reds was a truck driver.  He hauled cement out of Union Bridge for the Lehigh Cement Company.  He previously drove for Mitchell Trucking in Woodsboro, and Fleet Trucking in Union Bridge.  He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War.  He enjoyed antique cars and was a member of several antique car clubs.  Reds was the proud owner of a 1940 Ford Coupe.

Surviving, in addition to his wife Dolores, are his children, Pamela Edwards (Keith Palmer) of New Windsor, Ronald Frounfelter of Blue Ridge Summit, PA, Sharon Utermahlen (Eric) of Westminster, Patricia Clabaugh (Steven) of Taneytown, and Lori Rinehart (Jamie) of New Windsor; sister, Greta Lambert of Woodsboro; grandchildren, Hollie Edwards, Victor Clabaugh (companion, Lucy Haney), Benjamin Clabaugh (Katie), Heather Mahanna (Chuck), Shannon Henry (Kyle), Hilary Somers (Steve), Devin Utermahlen (companion, Sarah Verdin), Hannah Utermahlen, Tanner and Autumn Rinehart, Jessica Frounfelter (fiancé, Rodney Holman), and Matthew Frounfelter; step-grandchildren, Dale Lessner and Josh Lessner (Gretchen); great-grandchildren, Phinian, Reagan, Brenden, Raiden,Victoria, Aiden, Mya, Colt and Clara; step-great-grandchildren, Ian and Quintin; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a private funeral service for family members will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, Md.  The service will be live-streamed at 11 a.m. at https://www.facebook.com/MDFHWestminster/.  Burial will follow at Mt. Union Lutheran Cemetery at 12:15 p.m.  The service at the cemetery is open to all who wish to attend.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 108 Byte Dr., Suite 103, Frederick, MD, 21702.
