Charles Albert Willard, Jr., age 64, of Thurmont, Maryland, died on his birthday Saturday, October 23, 2010 at his home surrounded by his wife and family following a battle with cancer.
Born October 23, 1946 in Frederick, Maryland, he was the son of the late Charles A. and Catherine R. (Shaff) Willard, Sr. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Rebecca Ann (Hoke) Willard.
Charlie was self-employed for most of his career and owned and operated Willard Construction. Later he worked in the maintenance department at the Emmitsburg Fire Academy. He was a member of Incarnation United Church of Christ in Emmitsburg.
Surviving in addition to his wife are father-in-law, Thomas E. Hoke of Emmitsburg; brother-in-law, John Hoke of PA; and an aunt, Willie Murphy of MD. Also surviving are many cousins and devoted friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 210 W. Main St., Emmitsburg with the Rev. Harry Yoder and Father John Hoke co-officiating. Interment will follow in the Emmitsburg Memorial Cemetery in Emmitsburg. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
