Charles Thomas Welk, 70, of Taneytown, Maryland died Monday, January 5, 2015 at Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster. Born August 9, 1944 in Gettysburg, PA, he was the son of the late Charles W. and Blanche Lemmon Welk.
Charles was a custodian at McDaniel College in Westminster for several years and formerly worked in security at Cambridge Rubber Company in Taneytown. He was a life-long member of Messiah United Methodist Church in Taneytown, and was an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles and the Baltimore Ravens.
He is survived by nieces, Linda Warehime and husband Karl of Westminster, Brenda Clapsaddle and husband Michael, and Jackie Badiang and husband Jolly, all of Taneytown; and nephew Drew Welk of Taneytown. He was predeceased by sisters, Shirley Clem and Audrey Welk.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 9, 2015 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St, Taneytown, MD, with the Rev. Brenda Shields and the Rev. Art Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
