Charles "Bill" Weidner

December 5, 1947 — January 11, 2012

Charles William “Bill” Weidner, age 64, of Emmitsburg, died Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at St. Catherine Nursing Center in Emmitsburg. Born December 5, 1947 in Gettysburg, PA, he was the son of the late William Charles Weidner and Ruth Ashbaugh Weidner who resides at the Brethren Home in New Oxford, PA.

He worked during his early years at the Emmitsburg Shoe Factory before spending 25 years at Redland Brick Company, formerly Baltimore Brick Works, in Rocky Ridge as a sand mold attendant.

Bill loved to bow & black powder deer hunt. He loved camping and the great outdoors. He was a member of Emmitsburg American Legion Post 121, the Emmitsburg VFW, Fairfield AMVETS, Maryland Color Guard, Emmitsburg Ambulance Driver Company 26, Emmitsburg Fire & Police Company 6, and the Gettysburg Moose. He was a past recipient of the Maryland State Police merit award. He touched the hearts of many people in a variety of ways.

Surviving are daughter, Faye Ivey and husband Lee of Fairfield, PA; son, James Weidner and companion, Shannon Martin, of Hanover, PA; sister & caregiver, Carole Yingling of Cascade, MD, and sister, Tina Brame of Littlestown, PA; grandchildren, DJ Ivey of Charlotte, NC, Austin, Dereck, & Alyssa Ivey, all of Fairfield, PA, Austin Martin and Savannah & Bailey Weidner all of Hanover, PA; nieces, Christina Welsh and companion, DJ Hornbaker of Blue Ridge Summit, PA, Melissa Eiker and companion, Christopher Beck of Cascade, MD, Keri Weidner and fiancé, Christopher Yingling of Emmitsburg; nephew, William Eiker and wife, Sheila, of Fairfield, PA; several great-nieces & nephews, aunts, uncles, & cousins. Also surviving are special friends, Greg & Susan Ballantyne of Westminster, MD. He was predeceased by brothers-in-law, Gary Brame and Jerry Yingling. Bill will be missed by his family, his many friends, and the residents & staff at St. Joseph Ministries.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 313 W. Main St., Emmitsburg with Pastor Tiffany Kromer officiating.
Interment will be private. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 210 W. Main St., Emmitsburg, and Tuesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
