Charles William Porter, 88, formerly of Taneytown, MD, died Friday, November 30, 2012 at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD. Born July 14, 1924 in Massachusetts, he was the son of the late George W. and Kate Adams Porter. He was the husband of Alma Traoutmann Porter of Williamsport.



Charles served as a Market Analyst for the United States Department of Agriculture. He was affiliated with the Episcopal Church and was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II.



Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters, Barbara Fratila and husband, Nick, of Brazoria, TX, and Elizabeth Porter of Lake Jackson, TX; grandson, Major Scott Martin and wife, Rebecca, of the Minot, ND Air Force Base; great-grandson, Jesse Charles Martin; step-daughter, Dr. Sharon Murphy of Columbia, MD; step-sons, Peter Hammett of McConnellsburg, PA, and Michael Hammett and wife, Connie, of Lexington Park, MD; brothers, James Porter of Agawam, MA, and John Porter of Seeding Hills, MA. He was predeceased by sister, Vesta Glowacki and brother, George Porter.



A memorial service will be announced at a future date. Arrangements are by Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home in Westminster.
