Charles Edward Miller, Sr., 69, of Taneytown, MD, died on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster. Born December 20, 1952 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late John F. Miller, Sr. and the late Janet Anna (Domer) Miller. He was the devoted husband of Jenny Lynn (Groft) Miller, his wife of 49 years.
Charlie was a graduate of Francis Scott Key High School, class of ’70. He was a Control Room Operator at Lehigh Cement Company in Union Bridge, where he was employed for 33 years. He loved spending time with his 3 granddaughters who, along with his wife Jenny and his son Charley, were his life and love, and always put a smile on his face. Charlie was an avid Orioles fan. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR races, hunting with his son and granddaughters, reading history books, and exploring the Gettysburg battlefield with his wife Jenny. He was a member of the Taneytown Rod & Gun Club for over 40 years, and was president of the Taneytown Little League from 1984-1989.
Surviving, in addition to his wife Jenny, are his son, Charley Miller, Jr.; granddaughters, Sierra, Caitlyn, and Samantha; daughter-in-law, Michelle Miller; brothers, Robert “Bob” Miller and wife Helen, and Steve Miller and wife Judith; nephews, Frank and Kevin Miller; and niece Nicole Overholtzer. He was predeceased by brother, John F. Miller, Jr. and his wife Betty, and a niece, Cherie Miller.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 2, 2022 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD with the Rev. Fred Horner officiating. Burial will follow at Uniontown Church of God Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, September 1st and on Friday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
