Charles Merton Miller

Charles Merton Miller, age 90 of New Windsor died Monday June 20, 2011 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was born March 5, 1921 in Oak Orchard, MD the son of the late Robert H. and Clara E. Poole Miller. He was the husband of the late Mary E. Lynch Miller, who died in 2004.
He was a farmer and carpenter and enjoyed hunting and gardening his entire life. He was a member of the VFW, NRA, Medford Grange and a life member of the Carroll County Agriculture Center. He was a veteran of World War II, as a member of 1st Infantry, 6th Division, serving in Hawaii, the Philippines, New Guinea and Korea.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Roland F. Miller and Catherine Collins Miller of Landenberg, PA and daughter and son-in-law, Rita L. Holland and Thomas R. Holland of Uniontown, MD; also survived by 4 grandchildren, Marianne Janice Wimer of Quarryville, PA, Brian Roland Miller of San Francisco, CA, Amanda Holland Krumrine of Elkton, MD and Kimberly Grace Cooper of Uniontown, MD; ; 3 great grandchildren, Roland McLaughlin, Ian McLaughlin and Lily McLaughlin of Quarryville, PA.
He was predeceased by one brother, two sisters and two half sisters.
A prayer service will be held Friday, June 24, 2011 at 10:00 A.M.
at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis Street, Westminster with Fr. Raymond D. Martin officiating.
Interment will follow in Pipe Creek Cemetery in Linwood.
The family will receive friends Thursday 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Carroll County Agriculture Center, 706 Agriculture Center Drive, Westminster, MD 21157.
