Charles Edward LeFaivre, Sr., 87, of Taneytown died Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at his home following a lengthy illness. Born July 26, 1925 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Louis and Katherine Murphy LeFaivre. He was the husband of the late Mary Jane Campbell LeFaivre, his wife of 50 years.
Charles was an operating engineer for P. Flanigan Construction Company in Baltimore for many years. He was a veteran who served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was an avid Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens fan. He enjoyed building clocks and spending time with his family.
Surviving are sons, Jim LeFaivre and wife Patty of Taneytown, and Charles LeFaivre, Jr. and wife Victoria of Taneytown; sister, Patty Hilse and husband Vernon of Monkton; brother, James LeFaivre and wife Becky of Timonium; 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings, Flissy, Sheila, Norma, and Louis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 19, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 44 W. Frederick St, Taneytown, MD with Monsignor Martin E. Feild as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., Thursday at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St, Taneytown, MD. Prayers will be offered at 7:45. Memorial contributions may be made to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave, Westminster, MD 21157.
