Charles Robert Irvin, 94, of Taneytown, Maryland, died peacefully on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Lorien Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taneytown.
Born September 26, 1922 in Baltimore, Maryland he was the son of the late Alvin J. Irvin, Sr. and Alma Rebecca (Keller) Irvin.
Charles worked as a dairy farmer on the family farm at Trevanion and later as a feed truck driver with Taneytown Southern States for many years. He was a member of Emmanuel Baust UCC in Tyrone, where he served as a Deacon; Potomac Appalachian Trail Club; and member of the former Taneytown Kiwanis Club. Charles enjoyed photography and volunteered with the Taneytown Lions Club fruit sale fundraisers along with the annual CROP walk. He was also an Eagle Scout with BSA.
Surviving are nephews, Alvin Jay Irvin, III of Taneytown, and Dale Irvin and wife Cynthia of Littlestown, PA; great-niece, Sarah and great-nephew, Joshua. He was predeceased by a brother, Alvin J. Irvin, Jr.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Jeffry Dull officiating. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to Potomac Appalachian Trail Club online at www.patc.net.
