Charles Milton Daniel Hesson, passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at Carroll Lutheran Village in Westminster, MD.
He was born near Druid Hill Park in Baltimore on January 1, 1930, the son of the late Charles Oliver Hesson and Mary Baumgardner Hesson from Taneytown, MD. He was raised by Dr. George and Virginia Baumgardner in Rosedale. Charles graduated from Kenwood High School in 1949. He studied voice and clarinet at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore. He sang in the choir at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Rosedale from 1946 to 2017.
Charles resided in Parkville from 1955 until 2019. He was an automobile casualty underwriter for Maryland Casualty Company from 1952 until 1975. He played saxophone, clarinet and drums professionally from 1948 until 1978. He served in the Twenty Ninth Infantry Division National Guard Band from 1950-1959, retiring with the rank of Sergeant. Charles worked in automobile sales and management from 1978 until his retirement in 1996.
Charles was pre-deceased by his wife Joan Schultz Hesson. He is survived by daughter-in-law, Eunice; grandsons, Michael, William and Kenneth Schultz; and cousins, John Baumgardner in Finksburg, Dennis Baumgardner in Taneytown and numerous other distant but caring cousins.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 25, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, with the Rev. Matthew Fuhrman officiating.
