Charles Atlee Fream, 77, of Taneytown, MD, died Sunday, June 12, 2016 at York Hospital in York, PA. Born June 16, 1938 in Greenville, MD, he was the son of the late John Ernest and Muriel (Wantz) Fream. He was the husband of Juanita (Tyler) Fream, to whom he was married for 55 years.
Charlie was a 1957 graduate of Taneytown High School. While in school, he worked for the Knox brothers selling eggs and produce. He established his own business as an egg huckster in 1958, and was still delivering locally and to the Washington and Baltimore areas. He was fondly known as the “Egg Man.” Charlie was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Harney, Harney VFW Post 6918, Littlestown VFW Post 6954, McSherrystown Moose Lodge 720, and Littlestown Eagles Aerie 2226, where he was a Golden Eagle. He enjoyed socializing, telling jokes, and playing his banjo. Bluegrass was his favorite music, and his family was his pride and joy. He enjoyed people, and helped all those he could in a variety of ways. He was a man full of life and laughter and will be greatly missed.
Surviving in addition to his wife are son, Ken Fream of Hanover, PA; daughters, Brenda Keeney and husband Daniel of Keymar, MD, and Karen Fream of Taneytown, MD; siblings, George Fream and wife LaReina, and Maxine Bowers, all of Hanover, PA, James Fream and wife Sharon of Glen Burnie, MD, John Fream and wife Virginia of Mechanicsburg, PA, Glenn Fream of Taneytown, MD, and Robert Fream and wife Connie of Thurmont, MD; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings, Elwood Fream, Marie Smith, and Betty Naylor.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 17, 2016 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD, with Pastor Matt Day officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
