Charles Stoner Fleagle, age 92, of Mayberry, Maryland, died peacefully on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at the Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster.
Born February 19, 1920 in Mayberry, Maryland, he was the son of the late Edgar Koons and Marie (Stoner) Fleagle. He was predeceased by his 1st wife, Janette Elizabeth (Lawyer) Fleagle in 1983 and by his 2nd wife, Doris Jean (Myers) Fleagle in 2009.
Charles was a life long farmer in Mayberry, and enjoyed watching wildlife, farm animals, and nature from his farm front porch. He was a member of the Minutemen during W.W.II.; and a 1936 graduate of Taneytown High School. He was a lifelong member and founder of the Mayberry Game Protective Association; member of the N.R.A.; the Carroll County Farm Bureau; and Emmanuel Baust United Church of Christ in Tyrone.
Surviving are children, Peggy Keeney and husband David of Mayberry, and Philip Fleagle of Taneytown; grandchildren, Brian Foutz and wife Natasha of Charlottesville, VA, and Bradley Foutz and wife Sarita of Catonsville, MD.; 3 great-grandchildren and a nephew.
He was predeceased by a sister, Katherine Albaugh.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown with the Rev. Gerald Handberry officiating. Interment will follow in the Emmanuel Baust U.C.C. Cemetery in Tyrone. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4-8 PM at the funeral home.
