Charles Prentice “Chuck” Chaney, 71, of Finksburg died Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore. Born August 3, 1941 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Prentice Earl and Dorothy Osborn Chaney. He was the husband of Deborah Sue Peregoy Chaney, his wife of 33 years.
Chuck was a member of Carrollton Church of God in Finksburg where he served as an elder, Sunday School teacher, and worship leader. He was a 1963 graduate of William & Mary College where he earned a degree in mathematics. He was a Payroll Software Specialist for Ceridian Corporation where he worked for 44 years. Following his retirement he worked as a substitute teacher with Carroll County Public Schools and as an associate with the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home. Chuck was a railroad enthusiast and enjoyed collecting railroad memorabilia. He was an avid Baltimore Orioles and Clemson Tigers fan. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his wife are daughter, Jennifer Bush and husband, Jacob, of Hampstead, NC; sons, Jeff Chaney and wife, Elizabeth, of Westminster, and Scott Chaney of Clemson, SC; sister, Cheryl Wright of Frederick; grandchildren, Maddux Bush, and Emma, Ryan, and Peyton Chaney; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends, 2-6 p.m. Sunday, March 3 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster, MD. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 4 at the Carrollton Church of God, 1901 Carrollton Rd, Finksburg, MD with Pastor Dave Meador officiating. Interment will follow in the Carrollton Church Cemetery.
