Charleen K. (Kirk) Hunt

October 22, 1939 — August 30, 2017

Charleen K. Hunt, 77, of Hampstead, Maryland, affectionately known by all who loved her as “Maudey”, died peacefully on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at the Golden Crest Assisted Living in Hampstead.

Born October 22, 1939 in San Antonio, TX she was the daughter of the late Loma Alta (Eldrige) Kirk.  She was predeceased by her husband Col. George E. Hunt in 1990.

Surviving are children, Lisa Hunt, and Chris Hunt of Phoenix, AZ, Allison Hunt Blessing and husband John of Westminster, MD; grandchildren, Michael and Shannon Hunt, of Phoenix, AZ and Zachary and Troy Blessing and Bladimir Romero of Westminster, MD.  She was predeceased by a sister, Doreen Forren.

Charleen was a native of San Antonio, Texas; and resident of Westminster, MD since 2000.  She was a dedicated Army officer’s wife during her husband’s decorated 32 year military career, until his death in 1990.  She enjoyed her work on military posts and bases around the world, ranging from Retail Manager to Adoption Caseworker in Misawa, Japan.  In her retirement years, she thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, volunteering for the Carroll County Historical Society, and fixing up old houses.  She was passionate and generous with everything she became involved with.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 9, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. until the time of a Memorial Service at 4:00 p.m. at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 91 Willis St, Westminster, MD, with hospice Chaplain Steven Payen officiating.  Burial will be private in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX.
