Catherine Mae Stahley, age 88, of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania died Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Green Acres Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Gettysburg.
Born October 6, 1921 in Emmitsburg, MD, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Byard Koontz.
She was the wife of the late Raymond James Stahley.
She was a member of Elias Evangelical Lutheran Church in Emmitsburg. She was a seamstress in the local sewing factory in Gettysburg for many years. Catherine loved sewing, baking, spending time with her baby grandchildren, and her pet dog “Inky”.
Surviving are children, Rebecca Ann Baker of New Oxford, PA, and Rick Stahley and wife Kimberly of Gettysburg, PA; sisters Ethel Riley of Gettysburg, Dorothy Preston of York, and Ruth Schwartz of Emmitsburg; brothers Ken Koontz of Emmitsburg, MD and Lloyd Koontz of Keymar, MD; grandchildren Tammy Lookenbill, Karen Paxton, Dennis, Tonya, and Michael Swope, Kylie, Kayla, and Tiffany Stahley.
Also surviving are 11 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by siblings, Jack and Bill Koontz, Evelyn Monahan, and Anne Topper.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM, on Saturday, June 5, 2010 from the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 210 West Main St., Emmitsburg, Maryland, with the Rev. Jon R. Greenstone, pastor of Elias Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow in Emmitsburg Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
