Catharine Stewart High, age 91, of Westminster, Maryland, died peacefully on Friday, June 18, 2010 at the Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster.
Born April 21, 1919 in Union Mills, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Ernest W. and Elvira V. (Baumgardner) Stewart, Sr.
Catharine retired after 17 years working at Random House in the returns department. She was a member of Meadow Branch Church of the Brethren in Westminster. She enjoyed reading, word search puzzles, crochet, BINGO, bus trips, and her pet cat. Catharine loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are children, Barry High and wife Veronica of Westminster, Sue Ann Byers and husband Larry of Abbottstown, PA; grandchildren Tammy S. Peery, Stephanie R. Repp, Valerie S. Scheivert, and Christopher B. High; great-grandchildren Kelsey A. Peery, Kaitlin E. Repp, Kaleb M. Repp, Kyle W. Repp, Madison E. Peery, and Avery C. High.
She was predeceased by a brother Ernest W. Stewart, Jr., and a sister Edna Leppo.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster, with Deacon Charles E. Barnhart, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Meadow Branch Cemetery in Westminster. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6-8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
