Carroll "Dick" R. Lindsay

Carroll Richard “Dick” Lindsay, 73, of Westminster, passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2022, at BridgingLife Hospice Center (Dove House) in Westminster, MD after a yearlong battle with cancer. Born April 25, 1948, he was the son of the late Carroll L. Lindsay and Mabel L. Lindsay. He was the loving husband to Lynn Lindsay, to whom he was married for 50 years.

Dick graduated from Francis Scott Key High School in 1966 and the University of Maryland in 1970 with a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering. Dick began a career of public service with the City of Baltimore and then later transitioned to management positions closer to home with the City of Westminster and the Carroll County Government, where he worked as a project manager for the Bureau of Building Construction until retirement in 2010. Dick proudly contributed to the construction of Carroll Community College, libraries and senior centers.

He enjoyed many hobbies including carpentry, gardening, cooking and antiquing. A meticulous planner and creative problem solver, he relished the challenges of home improvement and tractor/ automotive restoration. Dick loved sharing the thrill of a new project and the sense of accomplishment in a job well done with his family. An avid sports fan, Dick loyally followed the Orioles, Ravens and Terps and also cherished supporting his children and grandchildren in their many sports.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Jesse Lindsay and his wife Becky, of Freeland, MD; daughter Rachel Ludlow and her husband Derek, of Westminster; grandchildren Gabe, Ben, and Ryan Lindsay, and Abigail and Drew Ludlow; and sister Helen Coulby of Frederick. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister LaRue Franklin.

The family will receive friends from 4-6:30 p.m. on Friday, February 18, 2022, at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 91 Willis Street, Westminster, MD 21157. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made in Dick’s name to Habitat for Humanity of Carroll County ( cchabitat.org ).
