Carole (Wireman) Brown

May 15, 1948 — April 26, 2017

Nannette Carole Brown, 68, of Taneytown died peacefully on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.  Born May 15, 1948 in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late George and Charlotte (Reifsnider) Wireman.  She was the devoted wife of Paul Russell Brown, to whom she was married for 50 years.

Carole was an Administrative Assistant at Linganore Wine Cellars in Mt. Airy for several years.  At a young age she began volunteering at the Catoctin Wildlife Preserve and Zoo in Thurmont, and remained a dedicated volunteer most of her life, along with being employed and serving on their Board.  Carole loved all types of animals, flowers, and nature, including the Catoctin Mountains.  She was a very spiritual person and was an active member of various churches, including Grace United Church of Christ in Taneytown, the Church of the Brethren in Union Bridge, and Trinity United Church of Christ in Thurmont, where she enjoyed singing hymns and showing her dedication through various volunteer activities.  Carole was also known for her creativity and her freelance artwork.  Most of all, she loved spending time with her 7 grandchildren.

Surviving, in addition to her beloved husband, are sons Jeffrey Paul Brown and wife Cindy of Savannah, GA, Scott Christopher Brown and wife Addie of York, PA, and Marty William Brown and wife Kristy of Waynesboro, PA; daughter, Stephani Carole Stine of Waynesboro, PA; sisters, Chris DiGilarmo of Frederick, and Deborah Knott and husband Larry of Emmitsburg; grandchildren, Justin, Ashley, Tyler, Jacob, Karlee, Kaylie, and Sophia; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Grace United Church of Christ, 49 W. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD, 21787, with the Rev. Steven Ostendorf officiating.  Interment will be private.  The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace UCC at the above address, Catoctin Wildlife Preserve and Zoo, 13019 Catoctin Furnace Rd., Thurmont, MD, 21788, or to St. Joseph Indian School, P.O. Box 326, Chamberlain, SD, 57326.  Arrangements have been entrusted to MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME in Taneytown.
