Butch Grimes

Barry Lynn “Butch” Grimes, Sr., 75, of Taneytown, MD, died on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at his home.  Born June 7, 1945 in Legore, MD, he was the son of the late James Grimes, Sr. and the late Genevieve (Brown) Grimes.  He was the devoted husband of Melissa (Dull) Grimes, his wife of 55 years.

Butch was a truck driver.  He owned and operated Grimes Trucking in Keymar, MD.  Trucks and driving were his passion.  His many trucker friends knew him as “Pap.”

Surviving, in addition to his wife Melissa, are son, Barry Grimes, Jr. and wife Donna of Keymar; daughter, Jennifer Griffin and husband Wyatt of Union Bridge; brother, Douglas Grimes and wife Gloria of West Virginia; grandchildren, Tyler Grimes and fiancée Janelle of Waynesboro, PA, and Jordyn and Bodey Griffin of Union Bridge.  Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and extended family members.  He was predeceased by brothers, James Grimes, Jr. and Patrick Grimes.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 21, 2021 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD, with Deacon Charles E. Barnhart, Jr. officiating.  Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens near Frederick.  The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 20th at the funeral home.
